beyonce superbowl

Beyonce has started 2013 extremely strong; endorsements with Pepsi and H&M, a documentary with HBO, a new album coming and one of the greatest half time shows ever didn’t hurt things at all! Her music has been flying off the shelf and iTunes since Sunday’s performance!!

Billboard reports the following:

Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime show has predictably sent sales of her music skyrocketing.

The diva headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime festivities in New Orleans last night (Feb. 3), where she performed eight songs and reunited with Destiny’s Child.

Industry sources suggest that in the week ending Feb. 3, Beyonce’s digital album sales jumped by over 230%. Meanwhile, those of her group Destiny’s Child soared by more than 600%. That latter increase is inordinately large as it includes sales of the trio’s brand new “Love Songs” compilation, released last Tuesday. The set features one new recording, “Nuclear.”

The album sales gains are also aided by discount pricing in both the iTunes and Amazon MP3 stores. The former discounted key earlier titles from Beyonce and Destiny’s Child to $7.99 while the latter marked them down to between $5 and $7.99.

In terms of digital song sales, Beyonce’s grew by an estimated 85% while Destiny Child’s rose by over 300%.

Beyonce’s biggest selling song of the week was “Halo,” which closed her eight-song halftime set. The biggest Destiny’s Child song of the week, according to early data, looks to be “Say My Name” (which was not part of the halftime medley). Two Destiny’s Child tunes were performed at the Super Bowl: “Bootylicious” and “Independent Women (Part 1).”

The week’s official Nielsen SoundScan sales figures for Beyonce and Destiny’s Child will be released on Wednesday (Feb. 6). Further impact from the halftime show will be felt next week, after a full seven days’ worth of sales are registered post-game.

Bruno Mars Scores 4th #1 Single With “Locked Out of Heaven”!!!

bruno and billboard

We don’t really care for Bruno but this 4th chart topper is monumental. Billboard report the following:

“Heaven” marks Mars’ fourth Hot 100 topper since his arrival in 2010. His first entry, B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You,” on which Mars guested, began a two-week reign the week of May 1, 2010. His debut album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” which reached No. 3 in a 112-week (and counting) run on the Billboard 200, yielded Mars two Hot 100 No. 1s as a lead artist: “Just the Way You Are” (four weeks, beginning Oct. 2, 2010) and follow-up “Grenade” (four weeks, starting Jan. 8, 2011).

How historic is Mars’ accumulation of four Hot 100 No. 1s in a span of just two years, 10 months and one week, dating to the Feb. 13, 2010, arrival of “Nothin'”? It’s the fastest collection of a male artist’s first four No. 1s in exactly 48 years. Bobby Vinton first entered the Hot 100 with “Roses Are Red (My Love)” the week of June 9, 1962. It became his first No. 1 five weeks later. Vinton then added leaders with “Blue Velvet” (1963), “There! I’ve Said it Again” and “Mr. Lonely” (both in 1964). When “Lonely” lifted 2-1 on the Hot 100 dated Dec. 12, 1964 – 48 years ago today – Vinton had rung up four No. 1s in a stretch of just two years and six months from his first chart appearance.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” Re-Enters Billboard’s Hot 100!!!

mariah carey glee episode

The song is decades old yet Mariah manages to cash in on the song’s popularity every year! Billboard reports the following:

The singer’s 1994 holiday chestnut returns at a new peak, as titles of any era are, as of this year, eligible to appear on the list if ranking in the top 50.

Eighteen years after its release, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 at last.

With airplay and sales for holiday hits increasing, the track, from Carey’s 1994 album “Merry Christmas,” re-enters the chart at No. 29, a new peak position. “Christmas” had logged one prior frame on the chart, reaching No. 83 the week of Jan. 8, 2000. It didn’t reach the Hot 100 upon its original release, as it was not available as a commercial single in 1994; per chart rules at the time, such tracks were not eligible to appear on the Hot 100. The carol did, however, rise to No. 12 on the Radio Songs chart the week of Jan. 7, 1995 (the highest rank for a holiday song in the chart’s 22-year history).

How does an 18-year-old song show on the Hot 100 alongside current hits (including those by Justin Bieber, who was not yet a year-old in late 1994)? Per current rules, any title, regardless of age, is eligible for the chart if it ranks in the top 50. Hot 100 rules changed at the beginning of the 2012 chart year to include titles of any era should they place in the list’s top half; tracks by Whitney Houston benefitted from the revision following her February passing, with, most noticeably, her 1992-93 Hot 100 No. 1 “I Will Always Love You” returning and soaring to No. 3 in March.

Two other versions of Carey’s modern-day Christmas classic charted on the Hot 100 before the original’s return this week, both last year. Bieber’s take (subtitled “Superfestive!”), with Carey, ranked at No. 86 the week of Nov. 19, 2011, and Michael Buble’s ballad interpretation made a cameo at No. 99 six weeks later (amid a five-week reign on the Adult Contemporary chart).

Carey’s original “Christmas” returns to the Hot 100 with digital sales of 69,000 (up 79%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. It bounds 37-19 on Digital Songs and leads Holiday Digital Songs for a fourth consecutive week. (The song has sold 2.3 million download to date). On Holiday Airplay, “Christmas” receives Greatest Gainer honors, lifting 7-5 with 26 million in audience (up 17%), according to Nielsen BDS. It re-enters Radio Songs at No. 48. “Christmas” tops the Holiday Songs chart, which measures sales, airplay and streaming, for a third week in a row.

Aiding the song’s momentum, Carey appeared on NBC’s “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Dec. 4, performing a merry version of the song with Fallon and the show’s house band the Roots on miniature instruments (including xylophone, bongos and wood blocks). A chorus of children added background vocals. The clip has racked 7 million YouTube views since its posting.

Upon her return, Carey claims her 34th top 40 hit on the Hot 100 (and first since “Obsessed” climbed to No. 7 in 2009). She breaks a tie with Connie Francis and Rihanna (each with 33) for the fourth-most top 40 Hot 100 entries among women. Madonna leads all female soloists with 49 top 40 hits, followed by Aretha Franklin (43) and Taylor Swift (39). Elvis Presley leads all acts with 80 top 40 Hot 100 entries (not counting his numerous hits that predate the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, launch).’s entire menu of charts, including the Hot 100, Digital Songs, Radio Songs and Holiday Songs, will refresh tomorrow (Dec. 13).

WTF!!! Mariah Carey has been doing this for 20+ years and has 7 more # singles then Rihanna, has sold 6 or 7 times as many records… How the f*** can they put her at #5 on a list where she is unmatched???

piss us and ALOT of ppl OFF!!

Rihanna’s Official Fan Site Reports The Following:

Rihanna was ranked as #1 Billboard’s Top Artist in their yet another chart summaring the last 20 years in Pop Charts history! Congratulations RiRi!

Having first arrived on Pop Songs only as recently as 2005, her accomplishments are exceptional. She has the most chart appearances (34), the most top 10s (21) and the most No. 1s (nine, a mark she shares with the No. 6 artist, Katy Perry). She’s reigned with “Umbrella” and shined with “Diamonds,” the latter of which debuts this week.

The week of Oct. 3, 1992, Billboard premiered the Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as then-new Nielsen BDS-based monitoring technology allowed for unprecedented accuracy in gauging the biggest hits on mainstream top 40 radio. Twenty years later, Billboard is celebrating the anniversary by counting down the top 40 artists on the Pop Songs chart over the past two decades.

THE TOP 40 POP SONGS ARTISTS 1992-2012, Nos. 40-21:

Rihanna’s “Diamonds” Debuts High On The Billboard Hot 100!!

YES!!!!! We love the single and we LOVE Rihanna!! Album coming soon, new videos, new music, another year of Riri!! #RihannaNavy

Our friends at RapUp report the following:

Rihanna’s “Diamonds” is already dazzling on the charts. The latest single from the pop star debuts at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

The song, helmed by Stargate, Benny Blanco, and Sia, is the first single from her upcoming seventh album, due later this year.

Rihanna has historically debuted strong on the singles charts. Her 2011 single “We Found Love” featuring Calvin Harris entered at the same spot in October of last year, while her collaborations with Eminem (“Love the Way You Lie”) and Drake (“Take Care”) debuted at 2 and 9, respectively. “Diamonds” also opens at No. 7 on the Digital Songs chart with 133,000downloads.

If the song reaches No. 1, it would become the 12th chart-topper of hercareer. She currently holds the record for the youngest solo artist to achieve the feat.

Rihanna will perform her latest hit at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, airing December 4 at 10 p.m. on CBS.

Frank Ocean’s “Channel Orange” Out Marches Usher & Chris Brown At Billboard!!

Franks debut album hit the the shelves last week and iTunes the week before, he’s moved 131k since then, topping Usher’s “Looking For Myself” which moved 128k and falling just short of Chris Brown’s “FORTUNE” which debuted at #1 with 136,000 units sold!

Frank has NO single and has only had a hand full of live shows to promote this album, this is a AMAZING example of his fans expressing there love and the gay community supporting there own!!

We know the title of the post states that he out marched Chris but Chris sold more records?? Chris Brown has dropped 4 or 5 singles and videos to promote “FORTUNE”, his label spend a fortune making sure he had a decent debut and the public knew this album was coming but Def Jam has barely rolled a dime to promote “Channel Orange”, no music videos, no official single. He debuted at #2 and this is a HUGE achievement for Frank and we’re so happy for him, soooo PROUD of him!!

If you haven’t purchased the album, chazz up and to BestBuy or WalMart, where ever and SUPPORT FRANK!!!

Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been” Enters Billboard’s Hot 100 Top 5!!

Posted in ALBUMS, BILLBOARD, DEF JAM, NEW MUSIC, NEWS, POPULAR MUSIC, RIHANNA, trueclefmusic, TRUECLEFMUSIC.COM, VIDEO LIBRARY with tags , , , on June 29, 2012 by JupiterDaTruth

This isn’t a big deal with 98% of the industry but with Rihanna it’s caree defining, been that way since she surpassed 9 #1 singles. “WHUB” will likely take the #1 spot some time next month, becoming her 12th Billboard Hot 100 chart topper! As of right now, no one is as prolific on the Hot 100 as Rihanna, well… maybe Katy Perry..  :rolls eyes:: That Rihanna reign just won’t let up!! #RihannaNavy

RihannaDaily reports the following:

Billboard Hot 100′s top five welcomes Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been,” which surges 8-5 with the chart’s top Airplay Gainer award. It lunges 7-4 on Radio Songs (96 million, up 17%), 22-16 on On-Demand Songs (438,000, up 36%) and 8-7 on Digital Songs (122,000, down less than 1%).

Buy “Where Have You Been” on iTunes and Amazon & RIHquest it in your favorite radio stations!

The advance bodes well for Rihanna: when she reaches the Hot 100′s top five, she usually continues on to No. 1; eleven of her prior 14 top five hits have gone on to No. 1, including her last five.

Rihanna Navy, get ready for a “Where Have You Been” Download Weekend coming this Friday, June 29th!

Usher “Looking For Myself” Debuts At #1!!

It’s Usher’s lowest first week in more then a decade but my man still came out on top! Why so few units shifted? Blame it on the heavy hiphop/r&b singles her chose to lead this album, while “Raymond v Raymond”‘s promo was led by the billboard #1 single “OMG” and other more commercial selections from the album..

Billboard reports the following:

Usher secures his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as “Looking 4 Myself” debuts atop the list with 128,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The pop/R&B star’s last full-length studio album, 2010’s “Raymond v Raymond,” also launched at No. 1, but with bigger sales. It started with 329,000. “Looking” also registers Usher’s smallest first-week sales for a regular studio album since 1997’s “My Way” bowed with 67,000.

The new album was ushered in by its lead single “Climax,” which is in its ninth straight week at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Of Usher’s 12 No. 1s on the R&B/Hip-Hop tally, only one has spent more weeks at No. 1: “You Make Me Wanna . . .” (with 11).

On the pop side of things, “Looking 4 Myself’s” top 40-focused single “Scream” rises 11-10 on the Pop Songs airplay chart. It regains its No. 10 peak, having slipped 10-11 last week. On the all-format Billboard Hot 100
chart, “Scream” slipped 13-14 last week (though it was still gaining in points). The new Hot 100 will be compiled today (June 20).

Rihanna “Where Have You Been” Official Video!!!

FIERCE!!!!! I doubted her for a second, thought “We Found Love” would be the only monster commercial hit from “Talk That Talk” but Billboard’s Princess made me eat my words, the song is fire and the video is BRILLIANT, gypsy realness and b**** is dancing her ass off, something we’ve never really seen her do before! Rihanna is THAT B****!!!!

Somebody had to knock that b**** down a few pegs lol, JK, love B and her runaway r&b hit, “Love On Top” which has been the charts King for what seems like an eternity! B falls to #3 and Rihanna’s Chris Brown assisted “Birthday Cake” replaces “Climax” at #2! #OThePolitics

SingersRoom reports the following:

Usher has just earned his twelfth no.1 charting single on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart.
Thankful to fans who have supported “Climax,” Usher tweeted his gratitude Thursday.

“Thank you to all my fans for helping me make history once again with Climax…This being my 12th #1 single…..#AMAZING,” Usher said via Twitter.

Lifting 2-1 this week, Usher’s “Climax” officially ends Beyonce’s several week run atop the chart with “Love On Top”

As reported earlier this week, “Climax” is also no.1 on the UK R&B/Urban Singles Chart.

“Climax” leads Usher’s forthcoming album “Looking For Myself.” That effort is due for release June 12 via RCA.

Hmmmmmm… I guess, I like the song but I was really hoping for “I’ll Be Waiting” to be the next track the label puts some promo behind..

Adele’s sold millions of copies of her 2nd album, “21” and has given us 3 #1 singles. “Rumor Has It” will likely following the first 3 singles, topping the Billboard Hot 100!

Such a feat will tie her with Mariah Carey, who is currently #3 for most singles from a single album. Michael Jackson rest at #2 with 5 singles and Katy Perry is #1 spot with 6 #1 singles reaching Billboard’s pinnacle!

Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” Crowns Billboard’s Hot 100!!!

In what an RCA Records representative terms a “perfect storm” of radio airplay, digital sales and pop culture prominence, Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The uptempo pop anthem becomes the original “American Idol” champion’s third leader on the list.

Clarkson first reigned with her “Idol” coronation song “A Moment Like This” for two weeks in 2002. She returned to the summit with “My Life Would Suck Without You” for two weeks beginning this week in 2009.

Source: Billboard

Good for her, I personally don’t like the song, much too cliché for me but I’m happy for Kelly, she hasn’t seen the summit in 3 years. For some reason I thought more of her singles from “BreakAway” were #1s? IDK!

Madonna 2012 Album & Tour Dates!!!

Fresh off her halftime performance at Super Bowl XLVI (which was viewed by a record 114 million people) comes details of the Madonna 2012 World Tour. The trek will begin May 29 in Tel Aviv, Israel, and will be her most extensive tour ever in terms of number of dates, according to Arthur Fogel, CEO of Live Nation Global Touring, worldwide producers of the tour. The tour will take Madonna to Austrialia for the first time in 20 years, as well as many markets she has never played before.

This will be Madonna’s fifth tour with Fogel and Live Nation, and second under her long-term multi-rights deal with the promoter. Her last tour, 2008-2009’s Sticky & Sweet, grossed $408 million according to Billboard Boxscore, the highest ever for a solo artist and third-highest of all time. Prior to that, Madonna’s 2006 Confessions Tour grossed $194 million, according to Boxscore, then the highest ever for a female artist.

The 2012 tour will follow the release of Madonna’s new album “MDNA,”due March 26 on Live Nation Entertainment/Interscope Records, which creates myriad cross-promotional opportunities, according to Fogel. Having the recording and touring (not to mention merchandising and other rights) under one umbrella “gives you the freedom to line up all the different elements to sell tickets and to sell records,” he says. “It’s as great a set-up as you could have. If this doesn’t work, I’m going into plumbing.”

Peep the video for her “Give Me All Your Love”, her new single:

The tour will play arenas, stadiums and unique outdoor sights, including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec. Fogel tells that production for the tour is in the conceptual stages, but did say, “it will be big and can get bigger,” depending on the venue.

The tour will play 26 European markets, including London, Paris, Milan and Berlin, before hitting North American shores beginning Aug. 28 in Philadelphia. Twenty-six shows are planned for North America, including a Sept. 6 show at New York’s Yankee Stadium, and an Oct. l0 performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale beginning Feb. 10 in Tel Aviv and the U.K., with North American tickets going on sale beginning Feb. 13. Tickets for North America are available at and

Madonna will play North America until just before Thanksgiving, then head to Latin America to tour until the holidays, then wrap the tour in Australia in early 2013, Fogel says. The entire tour will end up with close to 90 shows, which would be the most ever for Madonna; Sticky & Sweet ended up with 85 dates.

Adele’s “Set Fire To Rain” Crowns Billboard’s Hot 100, While “21” Sits Atop The Albums Chart!!!

Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” takes over atop the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, dethroning Rihanna‘s “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris, after 10 weeks and making history in the process.

As Adele’s set “21” leads the Billboard 200 album chart for a 17th week, “Fire” is the third single to top the Hot 100 while “21” has sat atop the album tally. First single “Rolling in the Deep” began a seven-week Hot 100 reign the week of May 21, 2011, when “21” was in its sixth week in charge of the Billboard 200.

Follow-up “Someone Like You” crowned the Hot 100 the week of Sept. 17, 2011. In the song’s fifth and final week at No. 1 (Nov. 5), “21” returned to the Billboard 200 apex for a 13th frame.

With “21” at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 four another four weeks as of this week, “Fire” (Adele’s third career Hot 100 topper) makes the set the first by a single artist to have led the Billboard 200 concurrently with three Hot 100 No. 1s.

AMAZING! It’s hard to tell who had a better 2011 and whose going to have a better 2012, Adele or Rihanna. Both are doing incredibly well right now, destroying major charts the world over and make big moves at radio and Billboard!

Drake Debuts At #1, Adele Makes Billboard History Yet Again!!!

“Take” is Drake’s second chart-topper, following 2010’s “Thank Me Later,” which launched with 447,000.

It’s unlikely Drake will hold on to the top slot next week, as early forecasts from sources suggest Nickelback‘s new “Here and Now” (released Nov. 21) may open at No. 1.

As for the rest of this week’s top 10, Michael Buble‘s “Christmas” holds at No. 2 with a big 35% sales gain, selling 165,000. It’s a contender for the No. 1 position the week after next, with an outside shot at topping the tally next week.

Adele‘s “21” rises 5-3 (113,000; up 8%), marking its 39th straight week in the top five of the chart — its entire chart run since it debuted at No. 1. In turn, it sets a record for the most weeks an album has stayed in the top five, since its debut, in the chart’s 55-year history. It surpasses Michael Jackson‘s “Bad,” which racked 38 straight frames in the top five following its bow at No. 1 on Sept. 27, 1987.

I love “Take Care”, the best hiphop presentation I’ve heard since Kanye’s last album, that’s a tremendous accomplishment. Peep the official TrueClefMusic review for more on the album! I’m VERY proud of him, second biggest debut of the year, F*** Gaga and “Born This Way”, that b**** DID NOT legitimately shift all those units, the amazon 39 or 99 cent discount take more away from what is already an extremely weak follow up to 2008’s “The Fame”..

Adele breaks yet another record, this time one of MJ’s! 39 weeks in the top 5 is astounding, I’m happy for her and even happier that an artist that makes real music is having such success in todays superficial market place. Congrats boo!

Rihanna’s “Cheers” Becomes “Loud’s” 4th Billboard Top 10!!!

The song enters Billboard’s upper hierarchy with the help of her visual for the song, which I love and increased downloads! The song is also hot at radio so don’t be surprised if it claims Billboards top spot in a few weeks!

If you don’t have “Loud”… COP IT IMMEDIATELY!! It’s one of her best albums yet!
