Chris Brown’s “FORTUNE” Debuts At #1!!

To ou total and complete surprise, “Fortune” has out marched Usher’s “Looking For Myself” in it’s first week, moving a mere 6 thousand more copies then U’s follow up to to 2010’s “Raymond V Raymond!

If these titans couldn’t do a buck fifty then what kind of first week is Trey Songz gonna have?? #NoShade

Billboard reports the following:

Chris Brown earns his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, as “Fortune” debuts atop the chart, selling 134,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. It follows his last release, and first No. 1, 2011’s “F.A.M.E.” That album launched atop the list with 270,000 — more than double the start of “Fortune.”
Brown is the second R&B hitmaker in a month to debut at No. 1 with a comparably soft launch. Four weeks ago, Usher‘s “Looking 4 Myself” started at No. 1 with 128,000. That marked a significant slide from the 329,000 first week of his last full-length album, the No. 1-debuting “Raymond v Raymond.”

Had it not been for Brown’s new “Fortune” release, we would have seen a surprise return to No. 1 for Katy Perry, as her “Teenage Dream” set zooms from No. 21 to No. 2 with 80,000 (up 417%) — and its best sales frame since Christmas of 2010. The set was one of 20 titles the Amazon MP3 store sale priced for 99 cents — for one day only — on July 3. (Perry also benefits from buzz earned by the release of her “Part of Me” film, which hit U.S. theaters on July 5.)

After hearing Chris’s new single featuring Big Sean & Wiz Khalifa, I can’t help but get a lil excited about this album, even though I know it’s probably going to be just like “F.A.M.E”… I loved all the initial singles for “F.A.M.E” but the album was soaked in something else, something more familiar and expected of Chris then I had hoped……… Maybe he’ll show us something different with “Fortune”…

SingersRoom reports the following:

Chris Brown has issued a new release date for his forthcoming fifth studio album ‘Fortune.’ Previously scheduled for May 8, the R&B crooner announced on Twitter that the album will now arrive in July.

“Team Breezy! The official album date for FORTUNE is July 3,2012!!!!!!!!!!!!” Brown writes on Twitter.

Fortune serves as the sequel to the Grammy winner’s 2011 release ‘F.A.M.E.’. Led by the singles “Turn Up The Music,” “Sweet Love,” and “Till I Die” featuring Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean, Brown hopes ‘Fortune’ will inspire others to live life to the fullest.

“I hope this album shows growth and positivity to all my fans and will inspire them to live life to the fullest!!,” Brown wrote in a previous tweet.

R&B crooner Chris Brown is planning to release the latter half of his F.A.M.E & FORTUNE project in spring 2012. According to a tweet from Jive Records France, the “Look At Me Now” hitmaker will issue ‘FORTUNE’ in March 2012.

F.A.M.E set a new bar for Brown, landing him his first Billboard 200 number one album and going Gold after three weeks. ‘FORTUNE’ has a good start to giving Brown new career highs, with the single “Strip” already making noise at radio.

Outside of “Strip,” Brown is also gearing up to release another single. He recently tweeted about a possible next selection stating, “”I’m also really excited about the release of my single titled ‘BIGGEST FAN’ produced by the RUNNERS!”

YES!!!! Don’t know why I’m so excited because , “F.A.M.E” was JUST LIKE “Graffiti” but  masked with hard nosed, r&b/hiphop singles featuring some the industry’s most colorful characters. In actuality, the album was NOTHING like the singles he sent to radio. “Deuces” and “Look At Me Now” are his best work and make the rest of the album sound like the same pop sh** he’s been doing since his second album…

“FORTUNE” is an opportunity for him to show us there’s more where those songs came from, that he’s not just a pop artist, using hiphop to push his album.. I have high hopes!

Vocally, he’s superior to just about every other dude currently recording r&b. He’s a great dancer and enterainer but he’ll need more tracks like “Deuces” to be labeled iconic, to be truly memorable. Goodluck bro..
