Mariah Carey Readies New Single & 5th Album Via Def Jam!!

The decision to push Mariah’s album back a few months ago wasn’t the result of her unfortunate fall on the set of the unfinished short film she was shooting for “#Beautiful” the remix featuring Young Jeezy.. Though we’re sure that would have caused a push back, the initial reason for the move was Kanye’s “Yeezus” album which was going to suck Def Jam’s promo budget for the 4th quarter DRY! Mimi and Mr West had reportedly been squabbling over promo dollars and Def Jam’s effect ions all year. Mariah, Rihanna and Yeezy are there three biggest, most lucrative artist but with sales down, money has to be divided and distributed more carefully.

Mariah released her second single from the album to remarkable reviews but slow downloads, that on top of Beyonce’s triumphant return has reportedly birthed a return to form. Mariah’s next single will either be her collaboration with Wale recorded this past fall or one of 3 heavy bass club tracks produced by either The Dream (Touch My Body) or her new co manager, Jermaine Dupre (It’s Like That)…

The album is slated for a February release and the title is being reconsidered in order to distance the project from the tanked second single… Sources say we could hear new music as early as the new year from Mimi!

This record is VERY important! Beyonce has become the King of Pop in the past 3 weeks, releasing the most fire we’ve seen from any artist all year and Rihanna’s hitting the Hot 100 like Joe Frazier, nailing down 2 more this year, 13 in all…. Mariah Carey is NOT ready to retire and she still has something unique to offer. She’s the last voice standing and she’s  use to being #1 above all! The material recorded over the past year and the strength of this promo campaign are said to be a reflection of that. We hope so! Good luck diva!

Nas Talks Working With Mariah Carey Again!

YES! HipHop icon meets hiphop icon for a second time! Nas collaborated with Mariah Carey more then 10 years ago for her “Rainbow” album and now they’ve finally made it back into the studio together.. We don’t know what the song is called but Nas is calling it “A banger” and seems really proud of the record and to be on wax with the diva again. He had the following to say in an interview with The Huffington Post:

In recent weeks you’ve been photographed in the studio with Mariah Carey and Jermaine Dupri. Will the collaboration appear on your album? That’s on her album, and it’s a banger! I was excited to get back in the studio with her. She’s one of the greatest voices of our generation. She’s on another level. Just working with an artist that big really shows me how much further I can go. I’ve been inspired just sitting there talking to her. She’s very smart and extremely talented. And I’m just happy to work with her again.

Gaga & R Kelly Collaboration Next Single!!

HAHA! This is something we never thought we’d be reporting. Super pop star Lady Gaga and r&b legend, R Kelly have been in the studio and the fruit of those recording sessions is a song called “Do What You Want”.. It’s the second single from her ArtPop album, coming this November! The song will be available on iTunes Monday at noon!

Kid Cudi Announces “Man On The Moon III” EP!!

Cudi’s out on his own for whatever reason, not sure why he left the security of the G.O.O.D Music family but he seems to be doing ok on his own.. He’s announced a new album, well a prelude to it and is actively touring around the country..

RapUp reports the following:

Man on the Moon 3 isn’t due until 2015, but Kid Cudi plans to hold his fans over with new music. The former G.O.O.D. Music signee announced that he will release a prelude EP within the next three months.

 

He shared the news with his fans during his “Cud Life” tour stop in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Wednesday.

“When I give you the release date, it will be 24 hours before it’s released,” said Cudi. “You won’t know when it’s gonna happen, but it’s definitely gonna happen in the next three months.”

The EP will include contributions from Dot Da Genius and King Chip, with “that classic Kid Cudder energy.”

“Now this will be a prelude to Man on the Moon 3,” he explained. “It’s all attached to the story. When Man on the Moon 3 comes out, you’ll be able toplay this EP and segue into Man on the Moon 3. It will be a seamlessconnection.”

Man on the Moon 3 is the third installment in his Man on the Man series following 2010′s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

Future Dropped From Drake Tour!!

Oh snap!! It got real! The tour is about to be underway, a 39 date spread but somebody forgot they place…

According to Page Six, Drake demanded that the “Honest” rapper be removed from his tour after reading an unfavorable interview on Billboard.com, in which he criticized Drake’s album Nothing Was the Same.

He was quoted as saying: “Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do.’”

The story was later removed after Future’s managers claimed that his quotes were off the record and taken out of context.

However, Drake was so angry that he immediately demanded Future be pulled from the tour. “He told his agent either Future gets fired, or he’ll fire him,” a source told Page Six.

Future was fired, but there were negotiations to bring him back late last week. However, he pulled out for good over the weekend after Drake’s camp demanded he make financial concessions.

Future, who was set to earn about $40,000 per show, is set to file a lawsuit this week against Drake for lost wages in the amount of $1.5 million.

Reps for both Drake and Future had no comment. A rep for Billboard told Page Six: “We regret that miscommunication surrounding Future’s recent visit, one that seemed clear to us was on the record, may have caused any trouble for the artist.”

Future was set to join Drake and Miguel on the 39-city “Would You Like a Tour?” trek, which kicks off Friday in Pittsburgh.

Future has dropped the law suit and has been added back to Drake’s tour! The show opened the other night and the two seemed cool again on stage. Drake also brought out Jhene Aiko and Wiz Khalifa as special guest! #squashed

Seems like these artist don’t know when to start recording and make single selections. Chris Brown is the latest push back offender, moving his album to the end of the year..

The album was slated for 11.19.13 but will now arrive on 12.3.13 and debut at number 2 behind Britney Spears as yet to be titled LP, lead by “Work B****”!! Chris has collaborated with just about everyone. Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa, Kelly Rowland, Brandy, and Kendrick Lamar (“Autumn Leaves”) all have collabo credits and production comes courtesy of Timbaland, Pharrell, Diplo, Polow Da Don, Drumma Boy, and Danja.. Sounds like this could be his best album yet!

This week, The Emancipation of Mimi passes the 6 million mark in US Soundscan sales.

In terms of Mariah’s catalogue, The Emancipation of Mimi ranks only behind Daydream (7.7 millon) and Music Box(7.27 million). Mariah is the third best-selling artist since the advent of Soundscan, with only Garth Brooks and The Beatles ahead of her.

Mariah Pens Open Letter & Announces New Single!!

The wait for Mariah’s new album seems endless. Mariah’s album was suppose to be on shelves months ago but a combination of her injury and industry politics forced her to push it back. The album is now slated for November and Mariah ever so often tweets pics from the studio… We have a track and collaboration list and are soooooo ready to hear this album..

Mariah’s released an open letter to her fans, an update on what’s going on with the music and in her life:

Hiiii lambs!!

I’m so happy to be able to catch up with everybody here on Facebook. The last three months of my life have not been easy. Getting through this injury has been the toughest experience of my life. It took me three months to get to this point but thank God I was able to recover and get my arm back. It’s a huge deal, it should have taken eight months and even my doctors can’t believe it. It’s been a long journey, the physical therapists have been incredible and I am very grateful to all of them for helping me.

When people expected me to go “Here I am, I’m back and everything’s great!”, it didn’t happen because my hand was still in tremendous pain and it took this long for it to heal. I’ve been working day and night, and it took a lot of rest (though I did sneak in to the studio a couple o’ times!) but I can finally say that I am on my way to a full recovery.

There’s a lot of excitement that I’m going to reveal to you very soon, and sooner than you know it, you’re going to understand why but more than that, you’re going to feel what I’ve been feeling for the past- not three months- but three years.

This is, to me, one of the most important albums I’ve ever made in my life. If you’re a lamb, a fan, or just a human being that needs to feel good, happy, sad, miserable, joyous… “I gotcha” (said like Roc- you haven’t heard how he says it yet but you will soon, it’s a complete+total classic!)

The other day Mariah announced her new single, titled “The Art of Letting Go”, same as her new album.. The single will arrive 11.11.13 and the album is expected to drop later this year or early, early 2013!

Mariah Carey Hires Jermaine Dupre To Manage New Era, New Album!

Ms Carey has been managed by Randy Jackson, Benny Medina, Jay Z & L.A Reid during her stay at Def Jam but now long time friend and collaborator, Jermaine Dupre will take the reigns, preside over this new album and new era in Mariah’s career..

We personally think it’s a good decision that’ll bare some fruit. Jermaine is the mastermind behind some of Mariah’s biggest hits and he was at the helm of production and A&R work on her 2005 album, “The Emancipation of Mimi” which restored all her powers…

We can’t wait to hear the album, can’t wait to hear a new single and can’t wait to see Mariah on tour again. TrueClefMusic f**** wit Mimi, all day, long time fans and supporters here!

So apparently someone decided to break in on KingRih last weekend… Singersroom reports the following:

Rihanna was the victim of an attempted burglary this past weekend. According to TMZ, trespassers tired to break in her Pacific Palisades mansion while she was performing in Australia for her “Diamonds World Tour.” The thieves reportedly fled the scene after throwing a chair through a sliding glass door, which triggered her home alarm system.
Law enforcement officials are conducting an investigation of the botch robbery. The criminal matter may be resolved urgently — apparently the whole burglary was caught on security cameras around the house.
No word from Rihanna regarding the the incident..

Drake is back on top. The Toronto MC not only has the No. 1 album in the country, he also has the second-largest sales week of the year with Nothing Was the Same.

 

The third album from the 26-year-old debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200chart with 658,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The only album to sell more copies in a week this year was Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, which opened with 968,000 in March.

Nothing Was the Same also marks Drake’s best week ever. His sophomorealbum, 2011’s Take Care, launched at No. 1 with 631,000, while his 2010 debut Thank Me Later posted first-week sales of 447,000.

Rihanna Threatens Radio & Billboard With “Pour It Up” Video!!

The single was released, sort of 4 or 5 months ago and regardless of the fact that King Rih’s never performed it or promoted it in any way, the song charted top 20 via The Hot 100… Now months later, the diva is releasing a steamy video for the single and seemingly plugging the promo for her brilliant “Unapologetic” album back in the wall right in time for Gaga. Britney and others to release new material!

We hope this isn’t the end, hope we get videos for “Numb”, “Love Song” and maybe even “No Love Allowed”. We’re in love with the album! #NAVY

Beyonce Album This Year Afterall??

The boss diva was photographed shooting a new video for a song called “XO”… We’re careful to suggest an album, especially after NeYo made explicit and direct comments regarding a push back to 2014, citing Beyonce had no idea what direction she was going or wanted to go with whats been recorded…. Furthermore, “Bow Down” and “Grown Woman” reportedly weren’t singles in support of any album………….. “XO” could be the same. You just never know wtf with Beyonce but it’s a small possibility that she isn’t going to let Gaga and Katy Perry make all the money this year.. We sincerely hope that album has been cooked rite and we get it before 2013 shuts it’s eyes!!

Robin Thicke Hot 100 Reign Continues!!

Robin continues to kick ass and take names via Billboard’s Hot 100! His monstrous hit, “Blurred Lines”, featuring T.I & Pharrell has become so much more then the biggest hit of his career.. It’s the song of the summer and spends it 12th week at the chart’s summit!

Katy Perry holds court at #2 for a second week, while Gaga jumps 6-4… When Katy drops the music video for “ROAR”, Robin’s going to be vanquished, that’s just our opinion but we’ll just have to see…

He’s a mere 2 weeks away from Mariah Carey’s chart benchmark of 14 weeks at #1….
